This is an interface to access Google via eMail. This approch is not unique.
The first one who did it where the guys at CapeClear. I like the idea and that's why I rebuild it and publish the source.
It's a nice and easy example to demonstrate the power of PHP and SOAP.
How does it work ?
The application is written in plain PHP, using the NuSOAP package written bei Dietrich Ayala.
Every 15 minutes it checks the mailbox of google@ohardt.com for incomming mails
and sends the subject as query to google via the Google API (SOAP interface).
Then it sends back the results to the sender.
Can I try it ?
Yes, for shure ! Just send a mail to google@ohardt.com and enter your
search query into the subject field. Please be patient, mail is checked only avery 15 minutes, so it could take some time until you receive
your reply. I don't want to check mail every two or five minutes, because of the load on the server of my provider.
Where can I get the source ?
You can get the source for Mail 2 Google here. Unzip the file into a directory, modify
and rename the config.inc.dummy file and the start mail2google.php the check the mailbox and query google.
Be shure to get your own Google API Key at Google before starting.
